1. Zomato acquires New Zealand’s MenuMania for Rs 5 crore 

Zomato an online restaurant guide has acquired MenuMania a New Zealand’s company in Rs 5 crore. Manumania was started last by Auckland based techie Cristian R and considered as biggest rival to Zomato. Two more such acquisitions are pipeline said Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and also he mentioned about bringing more innovations at Zomato for the Indian consumers.

2. Flipkart CEO Sachin Bansal to don role of delivery boy

Soon Customers will see Flipkart CEO as delivery boy at their door step. Now not only the CEO, other top executives will also be joining the similar drill. Move taken is because of stiff competition and understanding ground reality of the issue. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is already practicing similar things so other companies have also started.

3. Google shutting down Orkut social network

Orkut, Google’s first social networking site will cease to exist after September after 10 years of its operations. Orkut faced tough competition from Facebook and got sidelined in cyber world. Google want to concentrate on important projects YouTube, Blogger, and Google+. Google said it would preserve an archive of all Orkut communities that will be available from September 30.

4. After electronics, Flipkart is betting on fashion

India’s largest e-commerce venture, Flipkart is now eyeing on more acquires of apparel companies like Zovi & YepMe. As Flipkart is looking at private label fashions to reduce the Marketing & promotional expenses that are attached to Brands. However,building a private label brand over internet means Flipkart will have to establish credibility and aspiration for the brand so it makes sense for the company to acquire the existing labels.
